ED Visitation Policy during Pandemic Outbreaks
Emergency Department
- Please continue to support our pts/families arriving as few plan an ED visit so planning ahead can be challenging.
- Aim to talk about admission visitation rules early in the ED process when possible.
- Ask families to phone a friend to pick-up their other kids, let them know the kids have to stay in the room with them with the door closed.
- SW is a great resource and can assist with calls, rides, etc.
- Current talking points for speaking to families in the ED
Inpatient Visitor Recommendation
- Two healthy parents/caregivers (18 and over) are allowed to accompany patients in the hospital.
- It is recommended that only 1 of these parents/caregivers accompany the child at the bedside at a time.
- These two adults must be the parents/legal guardians of the patient, unless the parents/legal guardians identify a designee based on the family’s situation.
- These two parents/legal guardians or designees remain the same throughout the patient’s hospitalization.
- Parents/legal guardians or their designee who are sick (fever, cough or other concerning symptoms) or those with COVID-19 testing pending, cannot be in CHOP facilities.
