Bedside Checklist for Admitting Patients with COVID Tests Pending to Inpatient or ICU

Staff Huddle for Patients with Pending SARS-CoV-2 Tests for Inpatient, Intensive Care Units

Huddle prior to Patient Arrival:

Charge RN, Bedside RN, Admitting FLOC, Necessary Ancillary Staff
A standardized checklist

Review Checklist:

1. Indications for SARS-CoV-2 Test
Screening Test	Pre-admission or pre-procedure on asymptomatic patient
Diagnostic Test	Symptomatic or exposed patient to detect disease

2. Determine PPE
Patients	Precautions	Isolation Signs
Asymptomatic + Unexposed Screening Test	Standard Precautions Surgical Mask + Eye protection	No Isolation Sign
Symptomatic or Exposed Diagnostic Test	Modified Expanded Surgical Mask + Eye protection + gloves + gown
Symptomatic and/or Exposed with Current AGP that cannot be held Diagnostic Test	Expanded Precautions N95 or PAPR + eye protection + gown + gloves PAPRs are available for prolonged care of patients with AGP

3. Assure appropriate PPE is available for staff caring for the patient on the unit

4. Appropriate Room Availability
Do not use positive pressure rooms
Modified Expanded	Single occupancy
Expanded	Single occupancy, negative pressure preferred Respiratory huddle to determine if AGPs can be mitigated

5. Place appropriate Precaution Signs on the door

6. Post doffing signage facing into the patient room
